Our little bout of early October was something else, wasn't it? Even the words "polar vortex" started creeping back into the media's vocabulary this week with flashbacks to the devilishly cold winter of 2013-2014.
Indeed, seeing 60s for high temperatures during a time of year when we typically see the hottest weather is unusual. Minneapolis/St.Paul managed a high of only 65 degrees on Monday. This reading surpassed a 130-year-old record for the lowest maximum temperature on that date.
But in true Minnesota fashion, get ready for some weather whiplash. We go from record low maximum temperatures to potentially the warmest weather of the year in less than one week...and just in time for the Southside Sprint.
8AM: Partly cloudy. 67° Wind: SSW 4
10AM: Dry. 76° Wind: SSW 4
NOON: Sunny. 83° Wind: SSW 4
2PM: Warming up. 84° Wind: SSW 7

Take Home Message: Hot dog days of summer are back. High humidity will suppress the body's natural cooling process (evaporation of sweat) so do your best to stay hydrated. Weather stays dry...expect a fast course come Sunday!
