The severe lack of snow this winter has become a dire situation for race directors of various events. With natural snow in short supply, the 2015 City of Lakes Loppet revised their original plans and changed the majority of the event to the Theodore Wirth groomed trails.
On a positive note, we've spent 8% less than average heating our homes this winter; 16% less than last year.
Two chances for snow this week: Tuesday & Saturday. An inch of snow is likely on Tuesday but temperatures above freezing on Friday will melt most of the snow. A wetter storm could arrive by the weekend. Hopefully we get this much needed moisture after a very dry January.
