Climate research has continuously showed an uptick in more severe and intense rain events. The total annual precipitation across the earth has risen 2.2% since 1901. Locations that are increasingly wet vs dry, however, differ from region to region. The Midwest, for example, is seeing higher trends in more extreme rainfall events. A recent study done by my alma mater, Penn State University, shows a correlations between airplane contrails and high/low temperatures. Much like regular clouds, contrails tend so minimize the high temperature and increase the overnight low temperature.
